At the headquarters of the Cuban Parliament at the National Capitol, Mari Machado thanked Gilmore for the European Union (EU)’s position of condemnation of the United States Government’s blockade against Cuba, local television reported.
Machado praised the EU’s firmness during the debates on the latest resolution submitted by Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly, which for 31 consecutive times rejected Washington’s harmful policy by an overwhelming majority of UN member countries.
“We appreciate that position, in addition to the explanation of the vote, the condemnation of the inclusion of our country in the unjust list of countries that sponsor terrorism, an aspect that hinders financial relations due to its extraterritorial effect on the economic sphere,” the vice president of the Cuban Parliament pointed out.
At the meeting with Cuban lawmakers, the EU senior official learned about the Parliament’s work in the field of human rights, which were endorsed in the Constitution, after an extensive popular consultation in 2019.
