Acosta, who is also the Secretary of the Cuban Council of State, arrived in Rome on Wednesday evening.
On Thursday morning, Acosta and Cuban Ambassador Mirta Granda visited the headquarters of the Presidency of the Senate of the Republic at the Palazzo Giustiniani, were the Cuban parliament leader met with Senator Pier Ferdinando Casini, leader of the Centrists for Europe party.
Later, he visited the seat of the Chamber of Deputies, where he met with members of the Cuban Friendship Group in that legislative body.
Acosta will give a master lecture about the 2019 Cuban Constitution, legitimacy, and democratic participation at the Roma Tre University’s Aula Magna in this capital, and will attend a banquet given by Italian MEP Massimiliano Smeriglio, member of the European Socialist Party.
On November 25, the Cuban parliamentary leader will meet with Walter Massa, president of the Italian Social Promotion Association (ARCI), which has close ties of cooperation with Cuba.
His departure is scheduled for early Saturday.
