Cuba and Ecuador to deepen ties in higher education

Walter-Baluja
Quito, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Higher Education of Cuba, Walter Baluja, considered that advanced academic teaching will represent a boost for the academic relations between Ecuador and Cuba.

Baluja, who will participate this Thursday in Quito in the inauguration of the new president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, highlighted that both nations can open a new moment in their relations based on high-level professional studies.

“Cuban education is one of our ambassadors in the world, and I believe that with it we can enter a new stage,” Baluja said, and recalled the contribution of Cuban higher education to the training of Ecuadorian masters and doctors, who are currently professors of prestigious academic institutions in Ecuador.

The Cuban minister held a meeting with the president of the Higher Education Council of Ecuador, Pablo Beltrán, and with the rector of the Technical University of Manabí, Santiago Quiroz. He stated that as a result of the talks, the authorities expressed the intention of Ecuador to participate with a large delegation in the 2024 University Congress, scheduled for February in Havana.

“There we will have the opportunity to hold a meeting of rectors of institutions from the two countries which could mark the turning point for relations between the vocational training centers of both parties,” Baluja said, and affirmed that the links between universities can serve as a platform to create new ties and work commitments.

“Professionals graduated in Cuba can contribute to promoting new joint research programs and projects, presenting them in international calls to expand training and solve development problems in our countries,” he emphasized.
