Venezuelan president recalls Pablo Milanés one year after his death

Caracas, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Wednesday recalled the departure to eternity of Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, who passed away on November 22, 2022.

A year ago, we bid farewell to Pablo Milanés, “who rose to immortality on a day like today, leaving for the world a beautiful and immortal legacy of poetry, art and feeling, through his songs,” the president wrote on his X account.

The renowned founder of the Cuban New Song Movement died in Madrid, Spain, where he lived his last years, and left a musical imprint that will be remembered forever by admirers around the world, due to his voice and melodic timbre, which made his songs true poems of love for life and his homeland.

Milanés received the National Music Award in 2005 and his large repertoire includes songs like Yolanda, Yo no te pido, Yo me quedo, Yo pisaré las calles nuevamente, among many others, which delighted his fans in Cuba and abroad.
