Spain pays tribute to Pablo Milanés

Madrid, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) Spain will pay a heartfelt tribute to Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés, who died a year ago and is remembered by prestigious musicians.

With a preview focused on a discussion and screening of the feature film Días de luz, the Madrid-based Casa de América began the tribute to the author of Yolanda, one of the most praised love songs in the Spanish-speaking world.

Singer-songwriter, composer and music producer Víctor Manuel, writer Gioconda Belli, and the filmmaker and co-director of the documentary, Fabien Pisani, participated in the meeting about the audiovisual produced and co-directed by Nancy Pérez.

On Wednesday night, Iván Melón Lewis, Angela Cervantes and Ariel Brínguez (piano, voice and saxophone) will perform at the Gabriela Mistral Hall of Casa de América, where they will play Ámame como soy; while Andrés Suárez (guitar) will interpret Si ella me faltara alguna vez.

Other artists such as José María Vitier (Arreglo para piano de El breve espacio en que no estás); Pedro Pablo Rodríguez and Roberto Carcassés (batá drums and piano), Toque a Elegguá and Vuelve a sacudirse el continente, will also perform at the tribute to Pablo Milanés.

Frank Delgado (guitar) will play Te quiero porque te quiero; Clara Cantore and José Edelstein (bass, voice -poem recited-) Ya ves, y yo sigo pensando en ti; Miguel Núñez, Cary Varona and Mariana Núñez (piano, cello and voice), Algo más que soñar and Réquiem por un amor.

The tribute will also include Marta Gómez (piano accompaniment) Yo no sé; Rosa León, La vida no vale nada; Uxía, Para vivir; Víctor Manuel, Amor; Liuba María Hevia Ya se va aquella edad; Carlos Varela Los días de gloria; Ana Belén, De qué callada manera and Marwan, Yolanda, as well as Lynn Milanés, Comienzo y final de una verde mañana.
