He celebrated that at the recent meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum in San Francisco, California, Presidents Xi Jinping and Joe Biden met because that is the right path, dialogue, seeking agreements, not betting on confrontation.
It was very good, he said, that Xi and Biden remained in the meeting for the two days it was in session, which was very important because of the topics discussed and not only fentanyl and drugs, although we did see the issue of helping the Government and the people of the United States in this crisis because this drug is terrible, it destroys and takes the lives of a thousand young people every year, something very painful, he said.
He revealed that he raised the case with the President of China and that we should take care of the precursors so that this drug does not reach the United States, although not only from Asia, and we agreed to confront these gangs and he agreed that we should do it and we are already doing it, he assured.
He said that Xi agreed with him when he raised the issue and mentioned what China had gone through during the opium crisis, and that this fentanyl issue is above everything, above political and ideological differences, because it is a humanitarian issue and it is about protecting people’s lives, a human rights issue.
