Cambodia reaffirms invariable position against US blockade on Cuba

Phnom Penh, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, Sok Chenda Sophea, on Wednesday ratified the invariable position of its country against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.

At a meeting with Cuban Ambassador Liurka Rodríguez, the top official reiterated the will of the new Cambodian Government (in office since August) to continue expanding ties with Cuba, because they were forged at difficult times, when friends are most needed.

Sok Chenda praised Cuba’s contributions to the training of human resources and the revitalization of the Cambodian healthcare system at the time when it was most needed.

The minister highlighted the progress of bilateral ties in areas such as agriculture, sports and education, following the agreements and consensuses reached during high-level visits in 2022.

He also advocated for progress in cooperation projects, with emphasis on the one linked to rice production in Cuba.

Rodriguez, in turn, thanked Cambodia for the countless expressions of support and solidarity received, especially the recent speeches of its representatives at the United Nations and the Human Rights Council.

He also noted Cambodia’s contributions to Cuba’s performance during its presidency of the G77+China.
