Palestinian minister denounces children’s catastrophic situation

Ramallah, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Majdalani, denounced today the catastrophic living conditions of children in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli aggression, which caused over 13 thousand deaths in that territory.

The current humanitarian crisis requires the urgent intervention of the world, the official said at a meeting here of the National Council for Children, attached to his ministry, and attended by several national institutions and the UN system.

Majdalani urged countries and governments to provide basic equipment and medicines, as well as health personnel, to respond to the needs of children and their families.

Since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, the Israeli army committed 1,340 massacres in the enclave, forcibly displaced 1.7 million citizens and killed 13,300, including 5,350 children and adolescents, he said.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Omar Awadallah confirmed that the Palestinian government is continuing its diplomatic moves at the UN to stop the Israeli aggression.

At the meeting, the representative of the World Food Program, Samer Abdel Jaber, stressed the need to join efforts to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Palestine, Lucia Elmi, made a similar statement.

“We must support all diplomatic efforts and use our diplomacy to put an end to violations of children’s rights in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem,” he said.

Elmi condemned the attacks on schools and hospitals while calling for an immediate ceasefire in the enclave.
