Exiled former Guinean president accused of treason

Conakry, Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) Treason is the leading charge presented by Guinea's provisional military government on Tuesday against toppled President Alpha Condé but is not the only one, according to a version of the criminal record informed by the press.

The former president, ousted by a bloodless coup d’Etat in September 2021, has been living in exile in Türkiye.

Although in absentia, Condé is being prosecuted at a Conakry court on charges of corruption, assassination, torture, kidnapping, and rape.

Justice Minister Alphonse Charles Wright requested “to start the legal proceedings against Professor Alpha Condé for acts of treason, criminal conspiracy, and complicity in the illegal possession of arms and ammunition.”
