Chile submits project to guarantee access to justice

Santiago de Chile Nov 21 (Prensa Latina) The president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, presented today at the Palacio de La Moneda a legislative proposal to create the National Service for Access to Justice and Victims' Advocacy.

The project seeks to allow all people, regardless of their social or economic situation, to enjoy legal advice, legal representation before the courts and psychological support, particularly for victims of crimes.

The initiative will replace the current Judicial Assistance Corporations to give more depth and quality to this service.

The new agency will provide specialized assistance in various areas, such as unaccompanied children, the elderly, migrants, labor defense and human rights protection.

It will also provide mediation between the parties involved in a legal dispute and will provide comprehensive attention to victims of serious or violent crimes.

The President assured that this will allow special attention to those who need it and will strengthen the defense of citizens against crime in the country.

Once the corresponding law is approved in the Congress of the Republic, the agency will be present in all regions, even with special attributions according to the characteristics of each territory.
