In view of the fires that are affecting the departments of Beni, Santa Cruz and the north of La Paz with a serious impact on air quality, the national Government decided on Sunday to step up its efforts to fight them along with all the ministries in the Incident Command and requesting foreign support.
Novillo said that Venezuela’s reinforcement will arrive on Monday night and it will move to Rurrenabaque, in Beni on Tuesday. ‘(…) We have decided to redouble our efforts and the first decision we have made is that all ministries are at the disposal of the Ministry of Defense and the Incident Command to attend to the fires in a more timely manner,’ he said after a cabinet meeting called by President Luis Arce.
He added that through the Foreign Ministry, the request for international cooperation from France, Chile, Venezuela and Brazil was activated in order to achieve a more immediate action in the affected areas, and the first results are expected on Monday and Tuesday.
Novillo added that the Ministry of the Interior has activated its intelligence network in some areas due to allegations that several of these fires are intentional.
