Assembly to take up amnesty request for former Ecuadorian FM

Quito, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador’s National Assembly could resume the amnesty request for former Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, who is a refugee in Mexico, the President of the Constitutional Guarantees Commission Paola Cabezas detailed on Monday.

The authority affirmed there is an amnesty to which Patiño applied for, adding that it is about to be dealt with, and takes a whole process within the Commission, but in the long run this goes to the Plenary of the National Assembly, and there we will see if there are or not, the votes for that and for all the amnesty requests that have come to us, Cabezas argued.

On January, the former manager of the now defunct Deposit Guarantee Agency (DGA) Wilma Salgado, representing the Jubileo 2000 staff, presented the request to Parliament, however, the process did not advance, although it was classified by the Legislative Administration Council (CAL).
