“Deeply shocked by the loss of life due to the heavy rains. We are united in solidarity with the families affected in this difficult time,” the dignitary wrote on his social network.

“We offer our unconditional support to all those affected by this emergency,” added the president, who chairs this Sunday a meeting at the National Palace with authorities from the emergency agencies to follow up on the situation left by the passage of the tropical disturbance.

According to preliminary information, the deaths totaled 21 before noon this Sunday, 10 of them in Santo Domingo West alone.
