The agenda will start on Monday with a tour of the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
On Tuesday, Lacalle Pou and Ren Hongbin, Chairman of China’s Council for the Promotion of International Trade, will have an audience.
The Uruguayan president will also participate in an event to promote goods, services, and the country’s trademark, and in a seminar about trade relations, and will give a master lecture at Tsinghua University.
On Wednesday, Lacalle Pou will attend a seminar on investment opportunities before meeting with President Xi Jinping.
Thursday’s agenda will consist of an audience with Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.
The Uruguayan delegation is made up of Foreign Minister Omar Paganini, Economy Minister Azucena Arbeleche, Industry Minister Elisa Facio, Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Fernando Mattos, and business representatives.
In the absence of a free trade agreement (FTA) with China, Uruguay currently pushes for new trade accords with Beijing.
