The president held talks with other leaders, during which he proposed some actions to build greater consensus on this cause, and urged to accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development placing it at the center of the global plan.
“Countries should jointly promote the transformation and modernization of energy, industrial and transportation structures, promote carbon reduction, pollution reduction, expansion and green growth in a coordinated manner, promote the just transformation of the workforce and high-quality employment,” he stated.
Xi Jinping proposed building a global synergy to address climate change, and to this end promoted the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change as a main channel in governance in this field.
The president also advocated for the full and effective application of the Convention and the Paris Agreement. “In order to promote the green Belt and Road Initiative, China will further deepen cooperation in green infrastructure, green energy, green transportation and other fields, and support the capacity development of developing countries through the special fund for South-South cooperation on climate change,” he said.
Finally, he referred to China’s willingness to work with all parties to contribute to the construction of a clean and beautiful world.
