This way, the parliament discarded a proposal to suspend this exemption introduced by the conservative GERB party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, which won 94 of 210 votes cast in a parliamentary session that was televised live.

Speaking to local media before the parliamentary session on Thursday, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov noted that stopping oil imports from Russia would entail risks for the country’s economy, which is the poorest in the European Union.
