De Leon considered that the Dominican Republic cannot continue to be an accomplice of this outrage committed in Gaza Strip, where over 12,000 Palestinians have been murdered, including innocent children and women.
The leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) recalled that the nation is a signatory of international treaties condemning crimes against humanity.
“The presence of the Dominican Ambassador in Israel makes the Dominican Republic complicit in the crimes and murders committed by that State against Palestinian children, women and elderly people,” he stated in a press release.
Although Santo Domingo has diplomatic relations with that Middle Eastern country, a “diplomatic prudence” must be established that provides for the immediate return of its ambassador, as long as the genocide continues, he underscored.
De Leon described Israel’s actions as “merciless extermination” and deemed that the national government “must condemn such action because such an act is unacceptable in the 21st century.”
