Brazilian federal police announce strike for salary adjustment

Brasilia, Nov 16 (Prensa Latina) The National Federation of Federal Police (FENAPEF) of Brazil called for a second national strike to demand a salary readjustment.

The rally will consist of the suspension of activities of the Federal Police (PF) in several regions of the country.

Police agents and officers denounce the lack of commitment from the federal government to the police and administrative careers. According to them, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI), headed by Esther Dweck, justifies this by claiming that the Government has not yet found a solution for salary restructuring.

“We hope the strike will draw attention to a situation that is dragging on without a convincing reason since the proposal was approved by the federal government itself,” commented the president of FENAPEF, Marcus Firme dos Reis, who added that “even in the face of this historic fact, the MGI has not yet presented the necessary means for its execution.

Protestants are dissatisfied with the financial planning for next year, prepared by the ministries of Finance and Planning and Budget.

The understanding is that the 2024 Budget project does not contemplate the demands of police officers and public servants.

The Government, the PF, class entities and the Justice and Public Security portfolio are expected to hold a meeting on November 28th.
