The Venezuelan Government expressed in a statement its categorical rejection of the decision of the Guyanese authorities in the Stabroek block, located in a maritime area pending delimitation, which constitutes “a new provocation on the part of a government at the service of Exxon Mobil”.
Venezuela evidenced this illegality in documentary form and repeatedly communicated to the Guyanese Executive and the Caribbean community that “such actions are becoming the greatest source of destabilization in the region”, by undermining the legitimate interests of the Venezuelan people, the text indicated.
Venezuela reiterated to the Government of Guyana and to the transnational companies that exploit or provide associated services in the zone, that “it does not recognize any effect or right whatsoever resulting from the concessions it grants or has granted in this maritime areas to be delimited”.
