The returnees, 54 men, four women and two minors, arrived the day before at the port of Orozco, in Bahía Honda, Artemisa (west).
Five of them were transferred to the investigative bodies for allegedly committing serious crimes that were being investigated before their involvement in these illegal departures.
According to the MININT note, so far this year, 5,566 persons were returned to the island in 121 operations from countries in the area by air and sea.
The dispatch reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to a regular, safe and orderly migration while reiterating the danger and life-threatening conditions posed by illegal departures by sea, from the country and the involvement of minors in such acts.
