In a letter to United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres, the MPs urged the effective participation of key international political actors to put an end to Israel’s massacre in the Palestinian territories.
The letter, signed by 159 lawmakers, was recently delivered to the UN Complex in Colombo, the capital and a copy to the Palestinian ambassador to Sri Lanka as a show of solidarity.
The MPs expressed deep concerns over the Israeli war against Palestinian civilians, especially in the Gaza Strip, where they warned that it has already reached a critical point with a humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
The signatories reaffirmed their strong support for the people of Palestine, regardless of party, ethnic, gender or any other differences.
The lives of Palestinians matter, they deserve all rights and to live in peace and dignity like all citizens of the world, they said.
