St. Lucia's Prime Minister to attend Caricom-Saudi Arabia Summit

Castries, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) St. Lucia’s Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre, will attend the first Caribbean Community (Caricom)-Saudi Arabia Summit, to be held tomorrow in Riyadh, according to news media.

According to St. Lucia Times, the meeting is expected to provide opportunities for this nation and other members of the regional body to expand cooperation ties with the Arab country in the areas of investment and trade, renewable energy, climate change and sustainable development.

Under the current government, the media pointed out, diplomatic relations between Saint Lucia and Saudi Arabia intensified, generating important flows of financial support for capital projects and technical collaboration aimed at promoting the development of productive sectors, key to the economy of this island state.

Caricom is made up of Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

Anguilla, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, and British Virgin Islands are associate members.
