Parliamentarians from the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), the Social Renewal Party (PRS) and the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) supported the initiative.
Meanwhile, the members of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) voted against.
The bill will now be discussed thoroughly, listening to social partners and civil society, according to the agenda established for the General Assembly’s Economy and Finance Committee.
It is scheduled to enter into force in January 2024.
As part of today’s debates, legislators unanimously approved a request from UNITA for the Executive to submit to Parliament the National Debt Plan 2024.
