The foreign minister described as irresponsible and a violation of international laws the words by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who called for the “voluntary migration” of Palestinians from Gaza.
Any attempt to justify the displacement of Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip is rejected by Egypt and internationally, Shoukry said, stressing that the internal exodus in that territory is the result of Israeli attacks, siege, and starvation operations.
He also reiterated Cairo’s support for the “legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to remain on their land and establish their independent, viable, and contiguous State on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
The head of Egyptian diplomacy urged “those who claim to be concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza” to work to stop the military operations that have led to the deaths of civilians, including children and women.
