Along the central Victoriano Garzón Avenue and up to the Ferreiro Youth Square, the Union of Young Communists (UJC) and the Federation of University Students (FEU) and other participants shouted slogans and waved Cuban flags in the protest in favor of the Palestinian cause.
The First Secretary of the Young Communist League in Santiago de Cuba, Lisbeth Ramírez Hernández, denounced that Israel, in its eagerness for conquests, is stifling the Palestinian people’s desire to live and insisted that whoever supports this invasion would be denying the possibility of the peoples to live in peace.
Juan Carlos Vaillant, delegate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) spoke on behalf of Santiago´s citizens, institutions, and political and social organizations to demand an end to the Israeli aggression and issued a call for an end to the misrepresentation of the facts. The Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution led the group of students, workers, artists and intellectuals who gathered in front of the historic Palace of Justice in Santiago de Cuba.
