We are bidding farewell to a great woman, a dance worker who left her mark on this country, where she contributed from different artistic expressions, but also from the search for justice, recalled the mayor of Santiago, Irací Hassler.
Joan dedicated part of her life to the struggle to clarify the murder of her husband, singer and composer Víctor Jara, after the 1973 coup d’état led by Augusto Pinochet.
“She is a woman who has inspired many people from different fields, from the artistic to the political,” the Minister of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Carolina Arredondo, said.
Yoan will be buried on Wednesday at the General Cemetery next to Victor Jara.
