Noboa asks to reduce presidential transition budget in Ecuador

Quito, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) The president-elect of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, requested today that the presidential change of office ceremony be organized with half of the initial budget of around ,000.

I have ordered the transition team to seek efficiency and responsibility.

That they work with the outgoing government and spend less than 50 percent of the budgeted amount’, said the future governor in his 10th platform account.

In the last days there were questions because the authorities in charge of the transition would allocate too many funds to protocol acts while the country faces a fiscal crisis.

The 600 thousand dollars foreseen included coordination, transportation, food, attention and gifts for international guests, as well as a farewell dinner for President Guillermo Lasso, at the Carondelet Palace, and a welcome lunch for the new head of state.

The inauguration of Daniel Noboa is scheduled for November 23, as anticipated by the elected Assemblywoman Pierina Correa, who will preside over the inaugural session of the National Assembly. However, there is still no official call for the event.

With a total of five million 251 000 votes, Noboa and his running mate, Veronica Abad, won last October 15th votes against the candidate of the Citizen Revolution, Luisa Gonzalez.

It is expected that next November 15, the National Electoral Council will deliver to the winners of the voting the document that enables them to exercise their functions.

The young ruler will receive a country immersed in the worst wave of insecurity in its history, an energy crisis and economic problems.
