The incident occurred on Sunday, November 12. Although the Army reported 11 deaths, local sources announced that 26 Congolese citizens were killed, and other civilians and a soldier were abducted by the Armed Forces of the DR Congo (FARDC).
According to the radio station, the ADF rebels attacked the village of Kitshanga, belonging to the Watalinga chiefdom, in Beni, where, according to villagers, they went from house to house and killed inhabitants with knives.
According to local sources, 26 bodies were recovered early Monday. Congo army spokesperson, Captain Anthony Mwalushay, gave a provisional figure of 11 dead.
The ADF burned seven houses.
