This position was quoted by the Syrian media and expressed by the president during a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Latif Rashid, in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, on the sidelines of the current extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit.

Washington and the West provide political coverage and support for Israel to continue committing daily massacres against women, children and the elderly, which amounts to genocide, Al-Assad said.

He added that the Israeli usurpation of the Palestinians’ right to their land and state, and its occupation of Syrian and Lebanese lands, is the main and permanent cause of all the problems in the region.

In turn, the Iraqi president stressed the need to stop this war and guarantee the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
