In a meeting at the Foreign Ministry’s Yellow House, Foreign Ministers Yvan Gil and Peter Szijjarto, respectively, accompanied by their respective delegations, expressed their common desire to expand relations in areas such as higher education, science and technology, energy and agriculture.
Szijjarto expressed his concern for the complexity of the global context in recent times and pointed out to see more and more a critical attitude to the interferences made through different sanctions.
The head of the Hungarian diplomacy expressed that the foreign policy of his country is based on the support to sovereignty and wished to have ‘the best contacts and relations with Venezuela based on mutual support’.
He mentioned that the last foreign minister of his country was in Caracas 31 years ago and his visit is taking place now when the global policy ‘is threatened by different challenges and obstacles’. The high diplomat questioned the sanctions policies in force today in the world and expressed his joy for the attenuation of the unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela.
He pointed out that his country advocates that the terms of sanctions applied by the European Union against the Bolivarian Republic be reduced.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister pointed out that the relations with Caracas exceed half a century and bet on ‘a new restart and re-invigoration’ for the cooperation between the two nations, as well as to take advantage of the opening of the Venezuelan energy markets and the possibility of buying natural gas.
