A meeting of the Public and State Security Council is expected to take place next week, chaired by the current president, Guillermo Lasso, to inform the future president and his team of the national situation in that sector, considered critical due to the growing violence ongoing in the country.
At the moment it is unknown who will be the candidates for ministers of the Interior or Defense or the director who manages the prisons of the National Service for Comprehensive Care for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders.
Noboa stated that in the coming days, he will disclose the names of the candidates of those ministries, and who will direct the National Intelligence Agency that will be created during his administration.
The future president said in statements to the press that the meeting, set for Tuesday, November 14th, will address solutions to reduce violence in the country, one of the highest crime nations in the world due to the rise of drug trafficking and other factors.
He highlighted his campaign proposal to advance the solution to the problem: the Phoenix Plan, which includes the generation of employment and study options for young people.
Ecuador is suffering a security crisis, with a significant increase in violent deaths – over six thousand so far this year -, problems in prisons and an increase in drug trafficking and organized crime in the nation.
