She recalled that the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro showed great interest in developing this plant in Cuba, where tons of seeds arrived from India.
Moringa has been focus of multiple studies, showing encouraging results in different diseases including anemia, arterial hypertension, diabetes. It is also highly recommended as a substitute for prenatal tablets for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
“We are in love with this plant, also called the tree of life, the light of hope,” Campa said.
Cuba boasts three Moringa factories for producing powdered dried leaves, and its seeds and oil are already being sold at pharmacies, added Campa.
