The Montevideo Declaration notes the geopolitical, economic and social relevance of energy resources for human progress.
It further stresses the need for fair and sustainable energy transitions, and it is in favor of adopting renewable sources of energy, with the universalization of access and the energy boost.
The document recognizes the diversity of resources and strategies among member States and the adjustment according to their needs.
The meeting’s attendees decided to create the Business Council as a permanent body of OLADE and promote regional gas integration and new generation fuels.
The encounter’s participants determined to found the OLADE Gender Commission to encourage equality and empowerment of women in energy activities in the region.
At the meeting, 16 countries agreed on ramping up the regional goal of incorporating renewable sources of energy into the electricity matrix to 73% by 2030.
Commitments were agreed on the participation of renewable sources of energies in the total energy supply of 36% by 2030.
