US bombs Syrian army’s positions

Damascus, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) United States aircraft launched air strikes against positions of the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies in the northeast of the country, local media reported on Thursday.

According to the sources, two F-15s bombed a Syrian army warehouse and positions used by allied militias near the airport, east of the city of Deir al-Zour, some 500 kilometers northeast of Damascus.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin noted that the bombing was carried out on President Joe Biden’s orders in response to a series of attacks on US personnel in Iraq and Syria.

On October 26, two positions of the Syrian army and its allies in the town of Al-Mayadeen were bombed by US forces.

On October 30, a convoy of trucks from Iraq, in the border town of Albukamal in Deir Ezzor, was also bombed.

Washington keeps fifteen bases on Syrian territory without the consent of the Government of Damascus or the approval of the United Nations.

Syria has repeatedly denounced this presence, calling it an occupation, and assures that the actions by the US military in the national territory encourage terrorist activity and aims to destabilize the country and loot its wealth.

The attacks on US bases have increased considerably since the beginning of Israel’s aggression against the Gaza Strip, injuring at least 45 US soldiers.
