Jamaica: Several schools disrupted amid bomb threats

Kingston, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) Students and staff at two schools in Clarendon and one in St Catherine have been evacuated amid reports of bomb threats at the three educational institutions.

The schools are Denbigh High and Lennon High, both in Clarendon, and Greater Portmore High in St Catherine.

A senior police officer in Clarendon confirmed that bomb threats at schools in that parish while a staffer at Greater Portmore High has confirmed the threat at the St Catherine institution.

Ricardo Ross, Principal of Greater Portmore High, said the school was not the sender’s target, however the institution was evacuated based on the message in the email.

“In order to ensure that create a safe environament, we reached out to the Police High Command and they advised us to vacate, providing opportunity for the necessary team to come in and do due diligence.”

He said no explosive devices were found and classes will resume on Friday.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that threats were also issued to Immaculate Conception High in St. Andrew, Old Harbour High in St. Catherine as well as Lennon and Denbigh High schools in Clarendon.
