Canadian PM to attend APEC Leaders’ Forum in the U.S.

Ottawa, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, will travel to the United States from November 15 to 17 to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Meeting, according to information released today.

Based on the statement released by his office, Trudeau will attend the event to be held in San Francisco, where he will take the opportunity to meet with his counterparts and discuss opportunities in the digital economy, women’s empowerment, trade facilitation, and energy and food security.

The head of government will also reaffirm his country’s commitment to open economic cooperation and the elimination of trade barriers for the benefit of the people on both sides of the Pacific, according to the note released.

During the meeting, as indicated in the press release, the high-ranking official will show Canada’s leadership in food production and innovation in the supply chain.

Moreover, the text added, he will promote shared priorities between Canada and its partners to create new opportunities for Canadian workers and companies, and will deepen shared work on common objectives such as the fight against climate change.

“I hope to meet with my counterparts from North America, South America and Asia-Pacific to address economic, environmental and social opportunities and challenges.”

Working together, we will create possibilities for workers and businesses, forward progress in the fight against climate change, and drive economic growth that works for all,’ Trudeau said at the meeting.
