The protesters, gathered in front of the Justice Ministry, referred to a previous judgment of the National Audit Office that ordered the reinstatement of Parodi, one of the main leaders, who has demanded better salaries for the sector.
Protest leaders like Blanca Avalos, who represents the Education Workers Organization, demanded a favorable ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice.
“We are in front of the main justice body and its minister, Victor Rios. They have to make a decision. We trust him because he was the Education minister and is aware of the teachers’ situation in this country,” the spokeswoman for the sector stressed.
Parodi and other Union members of the Paraguayan Federation of Teachers were removed from their posts in January 2016, by virtue of a resolution by the Education Ministry.
