During the Forum, until November 8, the update of the Portfolio of Opportunities will take place; it has specialized panels on the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) and Cuban exports to be boosted with and from foreign investment.
On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Ricardo Cabrisas welcomed Cuba’s main trading partners, as in the case of delegations from Venezuela, Russia, China, Mexico, and Spain, the latter with broad participation in this trade fair.
Cabrisas stressed that Cuba is open to investment to promote market diversification, access to advanced technology, import substitution, management methods, and external financing.
During the opening of the ZEDM pavilion, the deputy head of Government emphasized that the zone has a business community that, despite pressures and difficulties, is committed to promoting the country’s economic and social development.
FIHAV is the leading trade fair in Cuba and the Caribbean. Among its attractions are the promotion of Cuban exportable funds, including the production of the state and non-state management forms, and a representation of Cuba’s 13 export production centers.
Entrepreneurs from about 60 countries, more than 20 official delegations, an equal number of chamber delegations and promotion agencies, more than 140 Cuban companies, and 39 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYMES) are participating in FIHAV 2023.
