The official delivery ceremony will take place at the former headquarters of the National Congress, in the presence of about 300 guests, including ministers, representatives of Parliament and participants in the process.
The head of state will sign the presidential decree that calls for the referendum, with mandatory voting, to take place on December 17th, in which citizens must vote to approve or reject the draft Constitution.
The project was prepared by the Constitutional Council. The extremist Republican Party and the right-wing Chile Vamos coalition made their majority prevail to impose controversial amendments.
Several organizations called to vote against the draft, including Frente Amplio, which includes: Revolución Democrática, Comunes and Convergencia Social, as well as the Communist Party (CCP), the Socialist Party, the Party for Democracy (PPD) and the Social Green Regionalist Federation.
Representative Karol Cariola of the CCP declared that the project is clearly a setback in terms of fundamental rights; while Jaime Quintana, from the PPD, considered that the proposal fails to unite society and offers few perspectives to new generations.
The conservative parties Republican, National Renewal, Independent Democratic Union, Evópoli, and Amarillos por Chile spoke out in favor of the project.
