Nepal earthquake victims receive donation from India

Kathmandu, Nov 6 (Prensa Latina) Two trucks with emergency relief materials donated by India reportedly arrived in the areas hit by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake in Nepal, in which 157 people were killed and nearly 300 were injured.

India’s Ambassador in Nepal, Naveen Srivastava,on Sunday, handed over the aid to Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka. The cargo includes plastic sheeting, tents, sleeping bags, blankets, medicines, medical kits, and other essential items.

According to the Indian diplomatic mission, more supplies will arrive in the next few days.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Shrawan Kumar Pokharel, said the aid was sent from Nepalgunj airport to Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim, the quake-hit region, under the custody of a battalion of the Nepal Armed Police Force.

On the other hand, an estimated 200 doctors and healthcare workers have arrived in remote villages to help and care residents injured in the earthquake, which had its epicenter in Jajarkot.
