The Cuban Book Institute informs that the event, led by journalist and critic Fernando Rodriguez, has been set for 15:00 local time and will promote a dialogue around this testimonial piece, one of the most representative works of contemporary Cuban literature.
On this occasion, the narrator, poet and essayist Miguel Barnet, winner of the National Literature Award, and researcher and poet Lázaro Castillo will participate in the discussion.
To entertain the event, guests will enjoy the Eduardo Lorenzo Pipe Band of the Artística Gallega de La Habana, under the direction of Alejandro Gispert.
This literary space pays tribute to writers, books, historical events and institutions that celebrate their anniversaries, and owes its name to Marti’s aphorism “timely praise encourages merit; and the lack of timely praise discourages it”, which appeared in the pages of Patria newspaper in April 1892.
It is also sponsored by Fayad Jamís bookstore and the Culture and Social Sciences Sections of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country.
