MINGOB reported as many as 2,564 assassinations up to the first day of 2023, 97 less than during the same term of 2022, a figure that the Interior Minister Byron Rene Bor attributed to the good performance of the National Civil Police (PNC).
Rene Bor, who took office on October 17 as a result of the political crisis generated by the domestic protests, stated his commitment to prevention and investigation of criminal acts.
MINGOB indicated that 84.6 % of homicides were committed with firearms; 7.7% by strangulation; 2.9% with blunt objects and 0.2% were vendettas.
