During a telephone exchange with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Greek head of government discussed the tense situation in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, an official statement said here.
The Greek statesman underlined his growing concern for the protection of the civilian population in Gaza and referred to the need to encourage humanitarian pauses in the hostilities and to allow a continuous flow of humanitarian aid to that small enclave.
More than three thousand children, at least 75 journalists and 130 doctors are among the total number of dead, due to the Israeli attacks that also destroyed tens of thousands of buildings, schools, hospitals, UN offices and other institutions.
According to the Al Jazeera channel, since October 7, Israel has dropped at least 35,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, a strip of 360 square kilometers, next to the sea and with an initial population of 2.3 million inhabitants.
