A military analyst quoted by the state news agency KCNA points out that such moves exacerbate tensions in the region, coincide with major conflicts such as those in Russia-Ukraine and the Middle East, and reflect Washington’s hegemonistic pretensions.
As examples, the expert cites the launching by the US of the Minuteman-3 intercontinental ballistic missile at one of its bases, in the presence of a South Korean military delegation, and the preparations to manufacture a nuclear bomb 24 times more powerful than the one it dropped on Hiroshima.
Also, the presence for the first time in South Korea of a US B-52 strategic bomber, capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
The recent and ongoing anti-DPRK war moves by the U.S. and its South Korean allies are provocative and reckless acts that worsen the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the commentator noted.
The DPRK military observes such actions and stands ready to respond to any hostile threat to its sovereignty and security, he warned.
