Beijing, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) The 16th China-Latin America and Caribbean (China-LAC) Business Summit, held under the theme "Open Innovation and Shared Development," winded up on Friday in this capital, where Cuba showed leading products.

Cuban Chamber of Commerce Vice President Tania Aguiar attended the opening ceremony of the event, which brought together more than 1,000 high-level representatives, including government officials, heads of international organizations, and prominent entrepreneurs.

According to sources, Cuba participated in the Business Roundtable on Friday, when participants received cooperation interests mainly in agriculture, renewable energy, industry, and food.

During the event, Cuba’s exportable products and services, including coffee, rum, tobacco, honey, bio-products for agricultural use, biopharmaceutical industry, medical services, and tourism, were exhibited, Marta Calzadilla, economic and commercial attaché at the Cuban Embassy in China, told Prensa Latina.

As part of the Summit, a cooperation initiative was launched on Thursday to promote the development of the digital economy, the agricultural, cultural, and tourist cooperation, and take advantage of a green economy potential in the construction of a shared future China-LAC community.

Vice President Han Zheng emphasized that since 2012, China has become the second largest trading partner of Latin America and the Caribbean, while that region has become a leading destination so that Chinese companies can invest abroad.

Also present at the event was Ren Hongbin, president of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), who repeated China’s commitment to facilitating supply and demand flows.

Initiated in 2007, the China-LAC Business Summit is held annually by China and LAC countries in rotation.
