Brazilian Prosecutor demands access to information related to coup

Brasilia, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) The Attorney General's Office of Brazil (PGR) sent a letter to Senator Eliziane Gama, speaker of the Parliamentary Investigation Commission (CPI) of the coup acts of January 8th, requesting access to confidential data.

The document requests access to banking information of targets of the CPI, which Deputy Attorney General Frederico Santos argues is essential for the continuation of the investigations into the case by the Federal Public Ministry.

According to Gama’s press office, the request was sent to the CPI Secretariat. The data must be sent to the PGR soon.

The members of the commission presented the final report to other bodies, including the Supreme Federal Court, the General Advocacy of the Union, which, just like the PGR, stated that it will continue the issue.

The content was approved by the commission on October 18th and was directed to the Federal Police, the Court of Accounts of the Union and several investigative organizations.

The document requests the prosecution of 61 people, including former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022).

It demands that Bolsonaro be accused of crimes of criminal association, attempting to violently abolish the Democratic State of Law, to depose a legitimately constituted government and the use of measures to prevent the free exercise of political rights.

“Democracy was attacked. The masses were manipulated with hate speech. Digital militiamen were used to spread fear, disqualify adversaries, and promote attacks on the electoral system,” Gama denounced during the reading of the report.
