India-Brasil-768x576
New Delhi, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Favaro, highlighted Brazil's commitment to improving relations with the Global South and the Middle East within the BRICS framework.

Favaro stressed during a meeting in New Delhi with the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of India, Shobha Karandlaje, that the fight against hunger is a primary focus for Brazil. He also expressed his government’s desire to work further with India on hunger issues through technology transfer, knowledge sharing and cooperative efforts.

He stressed that Brazil and India can find standard solutions to common challenges, and noted that Brazil prioritizes environmental protection within its objectives to increase food production and international trade.

He explained that Brazil planned its national strategy of increasing food production and expanding agricultural land without resorting to deforestation or damaging the environment.

Brazil hopes to receive specific interests and demands from India so that both countries can address them at the institutional level.

Brazil also reaffirmed its willingness to open its market to various Indian agricultural products and accelerate negotiations related to sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS) to ease trade.

The Brazilian delegation extended an official invitation to India for the next presidency of the G20 in 2024.

The parties agreed to develop plans to compile points with the potential to strengthen collaboration.
