UNGA rejects US blockade against Cuba with 187 votes in favor

United Nations, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) The resolution presented by Cuba to request the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States was approved on Thursday by the United Nations General Assembly with 187 votes in favor.

The text, passed for the thirty-first time, received two votes against (the United States and Israel) and one member State abstained (Ukraine).

The resolution recognizes the blockade as the main element of Washington’s policy on Cuba for more than six decades.

Its effects have not ceased for a single day and are known by 80 percent of the Cuban population who only know a country with a blockade.

The damages caused by this policy between March 1, 2022, and February 28, 2023, amount to 4.867 billion dollars.
