Parliament president stresses importance of Cuban journalist congress

Havana, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) President Esteban Lazo noted on Thursday that the 11th Congress of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC, in Spanish) will help to consolidate social communication as a pillar of the State and Government.

On the X platform of the Cuban legislature, Lazo highlighted the importance of the conclave and wished success to the Cuban journalists, who are meeting after an intense process of discussions and contributions from grassroots structures across the country.

The first plenary session of the National Committee of the organization is taking place, and the elected committee for the 2023-2028 mandate is presented during the Cuban Press Forum at the Havana-based Conference Center.

Essential issues, such as the Cuban press in a network society, the professional development and training of journalists, and the UPEC of the 21st century, are discussed in three working commissions this Thursday.

The two-day event gathers 275 delegates from different Cuban media under the motto “Changes Yes, revolutionary changes.”
