Frente Amplio denounces daily scandal in Uruguay,

Montevideo, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) "Every day a scandal" said the mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, on today's crisis which shook the government and caused the resignation of Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo.

The scandal started after the former vice-chancellor Carolina Ache documented evidence that compromised Bustillo in the granting of a passport to the Uruguayan drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, today a fugitive from justice.

The WhatsApp audios in which the then Foreign Minister urges Ache to “lose” her cell phone to prevent justice from accessing incriminating conversations about the Marset case are public today.

“The cell phone was not lost, what was lost was shame,” Cosse, a pre-candidate for the presidential and legislative elections of October 2024, said. “Every day that goes by a new scandalous fact emerges in the government. The situation is very worrying,” she added.

In turn the mayor of Canelones and also pre-candidate of the FA, Yamandú Orsi questioned the “Alleged lies, concealments, attempts to destroy evidence. everything from the heights of the government”.

How much more do we have to learn before we realize the extreme seriousness of this crisis, she asked.
